About the band

Do you want your function to vibrate to the exuberant, exciting, ear-catching sounds of a genuine New Orleans marching band? The Eclipse Parade Band can bring you all this and more! Based around the Manchester/South Lancashire area, the band is busy throughout the year playing not only locally but all over the UK. Some of our past bookings have included:

  • The Grand National meeting at Aintree racecourse
  • Cork Jazz Festival, Eire
  • The Labour Party conference, Manchester
  • T.U.C. rallies
The band is comprised entirely of professional jazz musicians. The band's leader and trumpeter is Dave Copperwaite, a devotee of the New Orleans tradition who also fronts two other bands - Louisiana Highway and Muted Jazz. In addition, our trombone player Derek Galloway is a longstanding member of the world renowned Temperance Seven ... the quality of our musicianship speaks for itself!
Our line-up is versatile and can be tailored to meet all your needs. From eight to twelve first rate musicians, plus an impressive and imposing Grand Marshall, the band is ideal for carnivals and community events, corporate functions, christmas galas, lantern parades, birthday parties, wedding receptions, shop openings ... if electrifying, intoxicating and infectious music is wanted the we can supply it!

Increasingly we are being asked to provide a New Orleans style funeral parade where hymns and spirituals are played before the laying to rest, often as part of a procession, followed by more upbeat numbers to celebrate a good life just passed. This we can carry out with understanding and discretion and to your exacting requirements.
